Challenge: Terra-Petra was contracted to design the waterproofing and drainage system for the below grade parking garage, as well as for all above grade decks, the service driveway to the second floor loading dock, and the second floor planters.  However, something unexpected was discovered during site wide excavation, not water but hydrocarbon contaminated soils carried onto the site from the adjacent freeway right-of-way.  The health and well-being of the students and staff became an immediate concern of the architect.

Resolution: Due to our extensive experience with soil gas vapor mitigation systems, the architect didn’t have to look too far. Terra-Petra was able to promptly design an effective sub-slab soil gas vapor mitigation system. The project stayed on schedule.
